Well, THAT was different....
I've just effetively been chastised for not ending BLOOD RED the way a reader wanted. Said reader fairly demanded a sequel. I felt obligated to explain that the final decision on that sort of thing isn't up to me, but rather to my publishers.

Weird.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

I'll have news in the next few days about another book finally being announced. Here's a hint. It was written by me....

Hey, some of us liked the ending and STILL want sequels! But if not that, at least another book on the way is cause to be happy!

Well that odd request was mine. I am sorry if it bothered you but I liked it a lot more than I said initially and was just bothered by the cliff hanger. I hate when a great book ends with such a sinister ending that seemed to be a beggining however I will learn to accept it I guess. Just so many questions and not enough answers. :(

No, please!

I don't mind criticism at all. As I've said before, how can I learn if no one ever tells me I'm doing it wrong? It was just a different enough request that I felt obligated to post about it. :)

It's probably a flaw of mine, the way the story ended. I've always felt there's more ot be said than just what happens in the story. The events I write about, they're just a small--though often significant--aspect of the lives of the characters and I want the characters to be as real as possible. Not just for the readers, but for me, too. What happens between Ben and Maggie is unresolved primarily because, well, they've only just discovered each other, really. Given time, they might be together indefinitely, or yes, the aforementioned issues regarding Maggie's career choices could get in the way. But that moment in time, the course of the book, didn't feel like the right time to resolve the situation. It wouldn't have felt real to me. Not with everything else they were already going through. Does that make sense?

Yeah it makes sense but I am saying that so much potential is here for a real sequal. I mean why stop when there is so much more to go on. I found that Maggie and Ben's relationship had much to grow but that isn't all. I also felt the detectives could do more digging, etc. I just think that the potential is so very great but the book was cut tragically short saying: "This is not all and more to come soon."

I also didn't understand the point of killing off Kelli she seemed to be a key figure in the overall book.

Anyway I hope to see more of yours. I will read next Fireworks.

Dude! I just finished Blood Red last night and loved it! I could not put it down. Loved Boyd and Danny. They made me laugh in nearly every scene they were in. I usually don't care for cliffhangers myself, but understand your point above. Thanks for the "big, fat, juicy" vampire story. I had a lot of fun!
