Bone Harvest
Okay, so, back a few years ago as some of you might remember, I blew out my knee in an epic way. So epic, in fact, that I needed hardcore surgery and three months of being on my back before I was officially put back together again.

The first few weeks were interesting, especially since I was on rather heavy pain pills and I had access to a laptop.

It's best not to reflect too heavily on the attempted novel that I started then. I intend to keep the file for my special anti-hubris days. I figure one good read of that 40,000 word mess will humble me immediately.

But out of the same mess came two stories I'm rather fond of, including Patchwork and Bone Harvest. Both were written with a mind toward promoting HARVEST MOON. Both revolve around one of the Brothers Three from Harvest Moon. Bone Harvest is the story of Old Bones, also known as Robert Bathory.

Bone Harvest, a 9,000 word short story that is available exclusively from Cemetery Dance Publications, is now back from the printers and available in a limited edition of 100 copies. It's free, too! Well, sort of. You have to go to CemeteryDance.com and order stuff. And then you can get one for free while supplies last.

So, Bone Harvest is directly linked to the novel HARVEST MOON,which is also from Cemetery Dance. You could probably order HARVEST MOON and ask for Bone Harvest to go with it! That's what I would do, but I already have copies.

I have had "Harvest Moon" (plus and "Haunted Forest Tour") waiting in my "to read" pile for this upcoming Halloween, and now I find out that there is a "continuation" or two of "Harvest Moon"! Eeek! I plan on loving it, and now I know that I will have to get "Bone Harvest" (if it is still available) and somehow find the unpublished "Patchwork" (AKA "Patchwork Harvest" or "Harvest Patchwork" ha ha). Hey, It is your new series, soon to be published as: "The Harvest Cycle" or "The Reaping Series" or "The Gathering Collection"

It has been very hard for me to sit on my hands and not read these books. So, will there be a short story collection soon that will include "Patchwork" and "Bone Harvest"?

I am very pro an author exploring their stories and characters to wherever they see fit. So, feel free to write a 243,000 word continuation or re-telling of your co-authored novella "Bloodstained Oz", and I will read it. :)

heh heh heh

Okay, so I tend to love Halloween stories. Can't be helped. I'm actually TOYING with a genuine continuation of HARVEST MOON, but there's nothing remotely solid as yet.

Re: those crazy short stories.

Okay, first, there's Harvest Moon/Harvest Gods, then there's Bone Harvest, then Patchwork and then the novel HARVEST MOON. After that, there's another story involving a character from HARVEST MOON that shows up in SLICES, my forthcoming short story collection. That piece is called Shades of Gray. It is not directly related to Harvest Moon but does sort of work as an update after the fact. So, Bone Harvest is a stand alone from CD. Whether or not they want to offer it in any other format, who can say? Harvest Moon/Harvest Gods and Shades of Gray are both going to be in SLICES. Patchwork does not have a home yet, but at 18,000 or so words, I'll probably try to find it one. :)

As for BLOODSTAINED OZ sequels, while they will NOT be 243,00 words long,BLOODSTAINED WONDERLAND and BLOODSTAINED NEVERLAND have already been contracted and slated. More news when I can on those projects. ;)
