| Day Two |
[Jul. 12th, 2009|05:02 am] |
We had a lot to shoot Saturday, including an orgy scene which required a ton of coverage because we had so many characters and extras. We made our day, and the footage looked remarkable, but we went late and will be starting an hour later than polanned today.
Due to a comedy of errors, our actors were locked out of Actor House and John Renna had to break a window to get them in. Today we'll have to figure out what to do about that...
A bigger problem today is that our port-a-potties were not delivered to today's location on Friday,a and as far as I know we don't have access to any other tolets until 3 pm... |

I can now swap The Bourne Legacy for Lizards in Captivity.
Is it just me, or does this sound like part of David Icke's private porn stash?

| Primal Fear |
[Jul. 12th, 2009|12:39 am] |
I just saw Primal Fear, and I quite liked it. I can't tell you why without spoiling it, though. Suffice to say that Edward Norton is impressive in his first major role, and I understand the decisions he made as an actor. The whole cast is good; I always enjoy Alfre Woodard, and Frances McDormand is particularly thoughtful in a supporting role.

| A Decade of Gandolfini.com |
[Jul. 11th, 2009|08:16 pm] |
Wow it's hard to believe 10 years have passed since I created Gandolfini.com with Shade Rupe. Gandolfini.com was my first website and the clean, simple design is timeless. Shade is a huge James Gandolfini fan; now I am too! Gandolfini, best known for his role as mob boss Tony Soprano, is also a versatile actor appearing in several films including In the Loop and The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. James is currently starring on Broadway in the 2009 Tony Award Winner "God of Carnage."
I've created numerous websites since Gandolfini.com and am available for new projects. |

Saw Brokeback Mountain Wednesday night. Sometimes when you see a movie that's had a lot of media attention, it seems like it's more likely to disappoint because it has been so heavily hyped. For me, Brokeback actually exceeded expectations. Heath Ledger's Oscar for The Dark Knight was no fluke: he truly was remarkably talented. I totally bought the character of Ennis del Mar.
The scenery is gorgeous. It was mostly filmed in the Canadian Rockies, and you could capture almost any landscape shot from it as a still and hang it on your wall. The cold light in it reminded me of another film by Ang Lee, The Ice Storm.
Most of all, though, I was moved by the story. No one escaped undamaged. Emotions are messy, and don't fit neatly into little boxes, much as we might like to impose that kind of order on them. I was reminded of how very lucky I am to get to spend every day with the person I love most in the world.
I might have to pick this up on DVD.

| Wow, Ubuntu. Just...wow *golf clap* |
[Jul. 11th, 2009|05:28 pm] |
When you aim to royally fuck everything up, you play for keeps.
Installed Ubuntu 9.whatthefuckever Jaunty in 64 bit 'cause I figure it's about time I join the 21st century.
But, of course, I keep having problems including the entire OS locking up so tight not even the numlock key wont respond.
Figured, fine. Fuck you and burned a 64 bit and a 32 bit of Ubuntu 8whatthefuckever Hardy.
Go through the bullshit to get the 64bit version installed and set and discover with my fiddling that the entire fucking operating system doesn't know there are video drivers for my video card.
Of course Googling things like "no driver shows up on hardware drivers window" or "No nvidia driver for Ubuntu FUCKGASM!!!.05" etc etc bring up nothing. Evidently I live in a special word on my own where all software problems are created just for my benefit. (They know me here)
I try random things and those do nothing, kind of like goggles.
So, thinking in my wisdom that it's a 64-bit vs. 32-bit problem, I go to the trouble of wiping everything all over again and installing the 32 bit of UBUNUTU Version FUCKYOUMIKE.05.
In which I quickly discover that this system too doesn't know what the fuck a video card is.
So now, if I want a resolution better than 800x600 I need to install UBANTUFUCKMASTIFUCKSKASKLEDKLDSKLGKJDSJKSKJLSSDgKJDGKDJGKDJGKJ.01, which I am in the process of burning.
This time, I'm trying the 32bit version on the off chance things actually work without the need of me writing my own code and compiling it myself. |

| 7 Deadly Sins - Envy |
[Jul. 11th, 2009|04:55 pm] |

The monthly challenge this time: The 7 Deadly Sins.
My first entry (of 4, actually) is this, Envy. I'll let the picture tell the story.
But I'll also add that, in fact, I neither live in a house like this nor covet one. My tastes run along different lines.

The website and/or my e-mail have been down this past week, seemingly at random, so while I can access the site I better catch up on some of my self portraits. Here's Day 199:

BioRequiem Etsy: selected oil paintings and prints. Many of you will have seen her line art in COILHOUSE. As Zo-bot itself says, once these are gone, they’re gone forever. And since she’s doing more and more gallery shows, you’re unlikely to see them this cheap again.
IT SAYS OBEY.

There's something sad, in a small way, about connecting through Philadelphia International at dinnertime and not actually finding a place to get a cheesesteak.
Or, for that matter, a Tastykake. |

i'm drinking a delicious apple soda and i'm still almost giddy about getting the keys to our new apartment last night. (and we aren't paying for july since we offered to clean it ourselves.) excitement, it abounds! also! i've actually managed to get some reading done lately. i finished up s.g. browne's 'breathers' the other day and found to be quite charming and nothing even resembling a horror novel which, of course, won't stop people from assuming it is and then complaining because it isn't. i'm about halfway through with john langan's first collection, 'mister gaunt and other uneasy encounters,' and so far it's pretty much fantastic and one of the absolute best collections i've read in ages, right up there with barron's 'the imago sequence' and bacigalupi's 'pump six.' i highly recommend both. |
